To mark its 44th year, the USTTI is launching its first-ever “Friends of the USTTI” annual fundraising campaign to ensure the long-term sustainability of its world-class, tuition-free ICT training. Since its founding in 1982, the organization has relied on the U.S. government and its Board of Directors to provide essential technical and regulatory education to global professionals. This new initiative aims to expand funding sources to support participant travel and operational costs, allowing the USTTI to continue its mission of developing global cybersecurity, 5G, and AI leadership for decades to come.

Giving & Impact

  • “In this complex journey, the USTTI has been my most reliable compass. When you are tasked with building a legal framework for the future, you need more than just local context. You need a global perspective. For years, USTTI has been my primary source for understanding what is happening on the international stage. The courses provide me with the best international practices and the principles behind them. This isn’t about copying and pasting foreign models; it’s about understanding the “why” so I can intelligently adapt the “what” to our circumstances. Whether I’m drafting a new cybersecurity bill, satellite licensing or considering regulations for emerging tech, I do so from an informed point of view, confident that our proposals are both ambitious and achievable. The most immediate value, however, often comes from the people USTTI brings together.”
    Thokozani Chimbe, Malawi
  • “I am pleased to share that I have recently been appointed Head of Spectrum Monitoring, Standards, and Quality of Service at INCM – Communications Regulatory Authority. This new role marks a significant step in my professional journey, and I want to take a moment to recognize the invaluable contribution that the USTTI has made in preparing me for such a responsibility.  The training and exposure I received through USTTI programs have greatly enriched my perspective and skills, particularly in regulation, policy, and telecommunications best practices. The knowledge gained and the global network I built through USTTI have been instrumental in shaping my approach to leadership and service.”
    Afonso Junior, Mozambique
  • “The opportunity to engage with FCC experts and industry stakeholders has greatly supported our efforts to develop Cambodia’s Radio Wave Act and national spectrum management framework. “I appreciate USTTI’s commitment to sharing U.S. expertise through comprehensive lectures and site visits, providing valuable insights into licensing, monitoring, efficient spectrum use, interference, mitigation, spectrum allocation strategies, and regulatory compliance. The knowledge gained will significantly enhance Cambodia’s telecommunications sector. I look forward to future collaboration with USTTI to advance global telecommunications development.”
    Chenda Thong, Cambodia
  • “The strategic axes of our strategy are based on the methodology acquired during the USTTI training. I obtained a promotion in my career following the USTTI training. I give conferences on cybersecurity in technical training institutes.”
    Abdoul Aziz Razikou Dilwani, Niger

A word from USTTI President and CEO Jim O’Connor:
