Case Study – Philippines

Joel Lolo, Engineer III (Senior Telecommunications Engineer), National Telecommunications Commission, Regional Office No. 10

Philippines

The USTTI training programs enhanced my technical knowledge and capabilities in the areas of  Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Techniques and Procedures. The exposures  and lessons  learned from the trainings greatly influenced and contributes to my professional and career  growth as a public servant and in providing quality and efficient regulatory services in our region.

Challenge

Identifications of  harmful Radio Frequency interference that affects the RF Spectrum particularly in the Safety and Special Radio Services.

Monitoring of Quality of Service (QoS) of Telecommunications Companies and Network Operators to improve their service performance.

Solution

Lead and supervise in the monitoring and identification of RF interferences and signal jamming by introducing and applying the state-of-the-art techniques and procedures in monitoring RF Spectrum, which I learned from the USTTI training courses.

Providing technical assistance in the procurement of modern and advanced RF testing and monitoring equipment and devices, similarly used by the FCC and other companies in the U.S., which I have visited during the training, as the Chairman of the Technical Working Group of our Regional Office.
