Millicom and Nokia join the USTTI Board of Directors

The USTTI is pleased to welcome Millicom and Nokia  to the USTTI Board of Directors.

Karim Lesina, Executive Vice President, Chief External Affairs Officer at Millicom, and Grace Koh, Vice President, Legislative Affairs at Nokia, will represent their respective companies on the USTTI Board of Directors.

Board Member Bios

Grace Koh
Vice President, Legislative Affairs
Nokia

Grace Koh is Vice President, Legislative Affairs, at Nokia. Before coming to Nokia, she served as the U.S. Ambassador to the International Telecommunication Union’s World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, where she led the 125-member delegation in negotiating successful outcomes for U.S. spectrum and satellite policy. She has also served as Special Assistant to the President for Technology, Telecom, and Cyber-Security Policy.  In this role, she advised the President and other senior White House staff on all matters pertaining to technology policy.  

Koh previously served as Deputy Chief Counsel to the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the Energy and Commerce Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Her primary role was to advise the chairmen and committee members on policy and legal issues arising in the telecommunications and technology sectors.

Grace Koh has also held jobs in the private sector, as a partner in the Telecom Law Group at DLA Piper LLC and also as Policy Counsel at Cox Enterprises, Inc.’s Public Policy Office. She began her legal career at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. She holds a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Karim Lesina
Executive Vice President, Chief External Affairs Officer

Karim Lesina was appointed Executive Vice President, Chief External Affairs Officer for Millicom in November 2020. In this role, Karim oversees the group’s government relations, regulatory affairs, corporate communications and corporate responsibility functions. His focus is on developing and driving Millicom’s global engagement in support of business objectives and particular responsibility for special situations and reputation strategies.

Before joining Millicom, Karim held the position of Senior Vice President, International External and Regulatory Affairs at AT&T, directing the internal international and regulatory affairs teams, as well as the external and regulatory affairs teams across AT&T and its global affiliates.

Prior to his term at AT&T, Karim was at Intel as the Government Affairs Manager for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Rounding out a strong portfolio, he acquired extensive agency experience through his work with multinational public relations and communications firms at the commencement of his career.

Karim is an active member in several industries and community organizations, including current service as Board Member of the International Institute of Communications, member of the GSMA Chief Policy & Regulatory Officer Group, and Member of the Meridian Executive Committee Corporate Council. 

Born in Dakar (Senegal), Karim is an Italian-Tunisian national and has a master’s degree in Economics of Development at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
