USTTI-ITU Announce Emergency Communications Training
For decades, the USTTI has provided essential training in the area of emergency telecommunications. This year, in conjunction with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the USTTI will deliver a two-day series of webinars stressing the vital role of emergency telecommunications in mitigating disaster risk.
The USTTI-ITU “Building Disaster Resilience Through Emergency Telecommunications” webinars on December 15 and 16 will feature presentations from experts on the best practices that can lead to limiting the impact of natural and manmade disasters, common alerting protocols, pandemic response, how to develop a National Emergency Communications Plan and much more.
This sessions will take place December 15th and 16th, 2020 from 9h00 to 12h00 EST (15h00 to 18h00 CET). In addition to the topics mentioned above, Day 1 (December 15th) will include a case study from the response to the 2017 Hurricane Maria led by Loon LLC. Day 2 (December 16th) will include a regulatory perspective from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), a focus on network disaster recovery led by AT&T, a presentation about satellite communications and its role in disaster response led by Inmarsat and a round-table discussion built around the current COVID-19 pandemic.
