As part of the White House’s recent announcement launching a new Initiative on Digital Transformation with Africa, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NITA) and the USTTI will collaborate on a program to empower and develop the next generation of telecommunications and ICT leaders in Africa.  The collaboration will include a training, networking, and mentorship event in Washington, DC, for young African leaders with U.S. tech, start-up, and government representatives, followed by a training workshop in Africa to help build out skills, knowledge, and digital leadership.”

According to Jim O’Connor USTTI’s Chairman, and CEO, “the NTIA’s commitment to the USTTI and our scholars across Africa builds on our decades-long collaboration and reinforces our mission of training and empowering Africa’s ICT leaders.” The USTTI is a nonprofit, government-industry joint venture designed to meet the IT, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and satellite training needs of the women and men who design, regulate, and oversee the communications infrastructures of the developing world.  Since 1982, the USTTI has graduated over 10,000 communications officials, regulators and entrepreneurs from 177 developing countries.
