Upcoming FCC and Comcast Webinars – January 29th and February 1st

In partnership with The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Comcast, the USTTI would like to announce two upcoming training webinars on Friday January 29th and Monday February 1st.

Spectrum Management: Allocation Considerations and Methodologies conducted by the FCC

On January29th the FCC will cover the fundamental block of telecommunications policy – Radio Frequency Spectrum. Understanding spectrum and being able to fluently discuss technical matters relating to spectrum policy is an essential part of any telecom regulator’s portfolio. Ronald Repasi, Acting Chief, Office of Engineering and Technology for the FCC, will explain in an interactive fashion and plain language the underlying engineering concepts used in spectrum management – tackling everything from the definition of spectrum to the meaning of harmful interference while discussing it in the context of today’s emerging technology issues.

Wi-Fi and Unlicensed Technologies: An Update on Regulatory, Engineering, and Business Developments conducted by Comcast

From humble beginnings in “junk bands,” unlicensed Radio Local Area Network (“RLAN”) technologies have become the center of regulatory, technical, and business innovation. Led by Wi-Fi, unlicensed technologies now contribute hundreds of billions of dollars to the world economy, serve as a lifeline to individuals, schools, and businesses in the COVID-19 crisis, and carry more traffic than any other wireless technology.  This success is due to good regulatory policy around the world.

Comcast’s training on February 1st , Wi-Fi and Unlicensed Technologies: An Update on Regulatory, Engineering, and Business Developments, will offer: (1) an overview of the history and success of unlicensed RLAN bands and Wi-Fi technology; (2) details on the elements of the regulatory system that led to these advances; (3) insight into the critical role of private-sector standards setting; (4) a discussion of how international unlicensed-band spectrum harmonization supports both global and local advances in innovation and service to populations; and (5) a view of what’s on the horizon in regulatory policy, the use of unlicensed technologies by service providers, and the next generation of Wi-Fi technology.

Like previous courses, participants will have the opportunity to not only listen and digest the information from presenters, but also ask questions in the Q&A section.

All participants are required to register in advance. To do so please follow the links at the bottom of the page. When registering please put your country of origin, the default is United States of America.
