As of March, the USTTI has received 4,166 applications from 93 countries! As March begins, we are poised to surpass last year's record number of applications. In 2001, the USTTI received an unprecedented 8,821 applications for its 851 training slots. Be sure to review the USTTI's 2002 course offerings online and apply today!
Cyber Forum Scheduled for April 17
The Cyber Forums are back! The USTTI will be holding the next of its popular live Cyber Forums on Wednesday, April 17 at 10:00 am. Several experts will be on hand to give a sneak preview of the topics that may be discussed at the upcoming ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Marrakesh. more
Addition to the USTTI Board
The USTTI welcomes AT&T Wireless and its representative, Doug Brandon, Vice President of Federal Affairs, AT&T Wireless Services, to its Board of Directors. Newly Privatized - Intelsat Joins the USTTI Board
This past summer, Intelsat made an historic transition from a treaty-based organization to a privately held company. The newly privatized Intelsat, after 11 years of providing tuition-free training for the USTTI, joined the Board of Directors as a corporate member in 2001. Intelsat is represented on the Board by Mr. Tony A. Trujillo, Jr., Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, Intelsat Global Service Corporation.
USTTI Chairman Now a Published Author
After 7 years of writing and research, USTTI Chairman Michael R. Gardner has published his first book, Harry Truman and Civil Rights: Moral Courage and Political Risk. It is a provocative historical account of a modern president's civil right's crusade against racism in America. more
Two USTTI Wedding Celebrations!
USTTI Senior Curriculum Coordinator, Dixie McDaniel celebrated her marriage to Eduardo Andrade on November 24, 2001. The ceremony and reception were held in Dixie's hometown of Folkston, Georgia. Additionally, Janet Cerbo, USTTI Records Keeper, was also married this November to Jerry Concepcion in a small Washington, DC ceremony. Congratulations to them all!
Outreach to Afghanistan
Given recent events, the USTTI has been engaged in outreach to those men and women working to restore the communications infrastructure in Afghanistan. We hope that this year, Afghanistan will join the family of 162 other countries who have received tuition-free training from the USTTI since 1982!
