FCC Commissioner Visits USTTI
November 4, 2003
FCC Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy (front row, fourth from left) is presented the Chairman's Award for 2003 by USTTI Chairman Michael R. Gardner. For more than a decade, Commissioner Abernathy has proven to be a great friend of the USTTI through her tireless work on its behalf while employed in both the public and private sectors. She was presented the Chairman's Award after delivering a speech on telecommunications competition in the United States to 18 senior-level communications officials participating in one of the FCC's courses, “Regulatory and Privatization Issues in Telecommunications.” Like so many of her colleagues in the federal government and private industry, Commissioner Abernathy is never too busy with her demanding professional responsibilities to share her insights and experiences with USTTI scholars. Also pictured are Jennifer Manner (far left), Senior Counsel to Commissioner Abernathy, and Barbara Cutts (far right), Technical Assistance Liaison Officer with the FCC and past recipient of the Chairman's Award.
